Summer blouses

The Datura blouse is a big hit this summer! These past few months, both the paper and PDF versions have been our best-sellers by far 🙂

It makes sense as it is the perfect top to face the summer heat, with its scooped-out armholes and its relaxed cut that has just enough ease to not stick to the body.

What I like the most about this pattern is its versatility. In a pastel-colored cotton voile, with the peter pan collar or a lace yoke, it looks youthful and romantic. Let me show you a few of my favorites:

But made from a lawn with an abstract black-and-white print, its style is much more geometric, perfect with the triangular cut-outs at the neckline! I especially like these two versions:

As for me, I recently sewed one from a lovely Cotton+Steel flamingo fabric, without the collar but with gold piping (posted here on Instagram), I love it!

This is a very pretty blouse and really feminine. Have you ladies not noticed that the more modest we are, the more men like it?

Do you know of any tutorials that walk you through how to sew the lining and top shoulders together? I made a muslin, it needed a few alterations and I’ve not gone back to make it again because of not being sure I did it correctly or even if there might be an easier way. Thoughts or suggestions?

Hi Terry! We haven’t gotten a chance to photograph a tutorial on this point yet, but you can check out this one on the Burdastyle website that explains the same method 🙂
