For the new edition of our favorite shirtdress, we aimed for a more elongated silhouette, in order to bring a touch of elegance to the pattern. We introduced a new, more modern, sleeveless variation, and replaced the puffy sleeves with capsleeves that are easier to wear but keep the retro charm of the dress.
Bleuet is a shirtdress fitted with princess seams. Version A is sleeveless and pared-down, and version B has cap sleeves and a bow at the back waist. The flare of the skirt has been slightly reduced and it has been lengthened to the knee.
The Bleuet dress features a few technical points (collar with collar stand, buttonholes) which make it a pattern of level 4/5. However, once you master these techniques, sewing the dress together is relatively easy. It is a great pattern for intermediate sewists who want to give themselves a challenge!
The Bleuet dress can be made out of a variety of mid-weight fabrics: you can sew it in a cotton poplin or lawn, a stable wool fabric, a chambray or even a supple velvet. Be careful to reinforce your fabric if it’s on the thin side, especially at the buttonband!
And we don’t forget our most faithful customers! If you already own the first edition of the Bleuet pattern and you’d like to have access to the new sizes and variations, you can fill out this form.
