A very Deer&Doe Christmas

Every year for the holidays, I like to make a Christmas dress to celebrate the season and the end of the year.

My family, though, is not big on dressing up for special occasions. Maybe the occasional Christmas sweater, but forget about fancy velvets and sequins! So this time, I wanted to sew a dress that would be casual enough not to look extra, but still full of the holiday spirit.

So I went with the pattern from the Dressed book, which is just relaxed enough, but still pretty and feminine. Plus the elasticated waist will allow me to have a few extra servings (I’m not sure that’s such a good thing but eh 😉 ).

The fabric is a blend of 70% rayon and 30% linen with a very fluid drape. It’s perfect for the skirt gathers and the billowing bodice, and super soft. I’m so happy about this dress, and I think I’m going to wear it lots in all seasons!

What are you going to be wearing for the holidays?
