We’re getting back to our roots with our newest collection: and that means dresses! Meet Circée and Orage, elegant and French-inspired garments that can be dressed up or down for any occasion.
Our inspiration this season was a return to our original vision for Deer & Doe, our essence if you will. We wanted to do what we’ve been doing best for 10 years . . effortless, understated, and undeniably feminine garments! We are happy to present Circée, our very first true wrap dress and skirt pattern; and Orage, a modern knit dress, top, and skirt.
We’re also excited to announce that today kicks off the launch of our 10 year anniversary celebration! All month long we’ll be highlighting the entirety of our pattern collection, sharing behind the scenes content, and reminiscing about where we’ve been and how far we’ve come. Even better? Orage
With four curated and stylish views, Orage might be our most versatile pattern yet. Choose from an elegant dress, a square neck top, or a modern skirt and crop top (or mix and match between any of the sleeve, neckline, and length options to create your own perfect look!). This design is our subtle ode to the feminine and one that echoes the natural curves of the body. It is an instant confidence booster!
Circée
The Circée dress and skirt is an architectural wrap design that can be worn in many settings: from the office to brunch and even as a wedding dress (which is how we imagined it for the white sample). It’s a truly unique piece filled with delicate and thoughtful details like facing finishes, a one-piece slit sleeve design, and button closures for both the skirt and dress views.
A note about this pattern shoot
You may have already noticed that we tried something a little different for this pattern shoot—each pattern is featured in the same fabric and styles in both our size ranges. Since expanding our size offerings, we’ve insisted on making sure that people feel beautiful no matter what size they are sewing. That means we’ve extended the same level of care for both size blocks . . . the same precision, same rigorous testing, and same dedication to tweaking the fit until it is just right! It is our sincere hope that we have showcased this by photographing similar samples in both ranges.
If you take a peek at the Genêt and Fougère product listings, you’ll notice that we created new samples and took new photos of these patterns with the same idea in mind.
As usual, it takes a village to launch a pattern collection, and we want to extend a special thank you to the many contractors who contributed to this launch. In particular, our photographer Vanessa Madec who helped us establish a new visual identity with this release; our gorgeous models Emma, Ornella, Johanna, and Elodie; and our make-up artist Angie.

This collection is simply beautiful! And thank you for having both size ranges presented in the same fabric, it really echoes equal representation and continuity of the patterns’ applications. I personally am a huge fan of the feminine styles and am excited to get into these patterns and make various versions. Your blocks fit so well and are very thoughtfully put together. Thanks for being the people behind such a wonderful pattern company and for putting such a personal touch to your products, as well as in the blog posts.
